Holster Retention
There are a variety of retention-style holsters for the average firearms owner. Friction retention is the most common, which allows your firearm to stay in the holster due to a concise fit or a retention screw.
Holster Retention Description
Level 1 | Friction holds handgun in place. Fitted Level 1 holsters are secure enough to keep your gun in place through most activities. Disadvantage of Level 1: Your gun can be taken away by someone else. |
Level 2 | Friction plus a second retention method like a strap or a thumb activate retention. |
Level 3 | Two retentions in addition to friction like a strap and a trigger guard lock. Used heavily by law enforcement. |
