Self-Supervised Ranges
Make sure you have read the rules of the range and understand them. When you are shooting at a location without formal supervision, be even more vigilant and communicate with others to maintain safety. If there are unsafe persons there that do not adhere to safe procedures and don’t wish to abide by general safety rules, then protect yourself and leave the area.
Self-supervised ranges should operate with the same cautions and safety guidelines as a supervised range. However, it is up to the individual shooters to communicate their status for either a hot or cold range. Shooters should ensure that all shooters have ceased firing, their actions open and no one is touching their firearms before anyone proceeds downrange to inspect or change targets. Shooters must police themselves to ensure everyone is being safe and following the range rules. Pay close attention to other people on the range watch for anyone not paying attention.
